About the author
June English was born in Devon, England, and emigrated with her parents to Australia as a young teenager. She is married with three children and seven grandchildren and lives in South East Queensland.
For the first twenty years of her life, June lived in many different homes, including once spending eighteen months in an orphanage. An experience she would not wish on anyone.
Despite not finishing high school, June worked in various occupations during her working life. June has several hobbies, although cooking isn’t one of them. Crafts such as cross-stitch, crochet, and knitting are her favourites, with many of her designs winning prizes at regional shows.
Later in life, June discovered the joy of writing. Encouraged by her writing cousin, she began creating stories in her retirement to keep her mind active. “The Narrow House of Clay” was only supposed to be one book, but it has taken on a life of its own. There will be at least four books in the series.

The author has imbibed the story with passion & empathy with an eye to historical nuances.

"This wonderful story spans generations in 1800s Cornwall, with brilliantly written characters you’ll either root for or detest. The vivid rural setting and journey to a new life in South Australia kept me on edge, especially during the harrowing sea voyage. I found myself cheering for the characters’ triumphs and was deeply moved by Elizabeth’s redemptive arc, even shedding a tear. I highly recommend curling up with a warm drink and letting this book transport you to Cornwall—it’s a journey worth taking."
"A beautifully crafted novel, The Narrow House of Clay explores love, loss, and the secrets hidden in 1836 Cornwall. With vivid world-building and unforgettable family tensions, each unique character, like the memorable Elizabeth, adds depth to this story. A beautifully written novel that crafts a tapestry of love and loss, interweaving incredible descriptions. This book is a breath of fresh air and leaves a lasting impression—highly recommended!
